A New Era for CD Colunga
A new era is beginning in CD Colunga. We are committed to young people, with talent, commitment and the desire to go far. We want to be the place where footballers with ambition are trained, where the dream of professional football starts to be built from the grassroots.
We defend football as it has always been: natural grass, sportsmanship, fair play. We want to compete at the highest level without losing humility and honesty. This new stage is not just a sporting project, it is a way of understanding football and life.
Behind this project are two old football acquaintances: Santiago García Barrero (Real Oviedo, Logroñés and Levante) and former English footballer Keith Thompson (Coventry City, Real Oviedo). Both have recently become advisors to the club, with the intention of revitalising it, driving it forward and keeping its traditional values alive while helping it to grow and progress.

Comienza una nueva era en el CD Colunga. Nuestro compromiso es con los jóvenes: con quienes tienen talento, dedicación y la ambición de llegar lejos. Queremos ser el club donde se formen los futbolistas con ilusión, donde el sueño del fútbol profesional empiece a construirse desde la base.
Creemos en el fútbol como siempre ha sido: césped natural, deportividad y juego limpio. Nuestro objetivo es competir al máximo nivel sin perder nunca la humildad ni la honestidad. Esta nueva etapa es mucho más que un proyecto deportivo: es una filosofía, una forma de entender el fútbol y la vida.
Al frente de este proyecto están dos nombres muy conocidos en el mundo del fútbol: Santiago García Barrero (Real Oviedo, Logroñés, Levante) y el exfutbolista inglés Keith Thompson (Coventry City, Real Oviedo). Ambos se han incorporado recientemente al club como asesores, con el propósito de revitalizar el CD Colunga —impulsarlo hacia adelante, mantener vivos sus valores tradicionales y ayudarlo a crecer y prosperar.

Our Project
CD Colunga is building a future rooted in its past — proud of its identity, but with its eyes firmly on what’s ahead. Our project is based on developing talent, strengthening our community, and restoring the club’s role as a benchmark for grassroots football in Asturias.
We want to be a club that grows sustainably, step by step, with a clear sporting and social model. We believe that success should not be improvised, but cultivated with patience, discipline and vision.
Our aim is to create a training environment where young players can grow both as footballers and as people. To make CD Colunga a reference point for effort, teamwork and respect — a place where every player learns that character is as important as talent. Young players of various nationalities are recruited — with talent, commitment, and the desire to reach European professional football — to join a group of local footballers from the region.
We are working to connect the club more closely with its people — with the town, with the schools, with families who live football as a shared passion. The badge we wear belongs to everyone, and every victory must be built together. A unique atmosphere has been created. One that evokes a classic stadium through players’ kits, merchandising, and posters.
With these non-negotiable principles, the project has drawn media attention, companies willing to offer support, and players eager to join the club.
This new stage is more than just a sporting project — it’s a way of understanding football and life.

Nuestro Proyecto
El CD Colunga está construyendo un futuro arraigado en su pasado: orgulloso de su identidad, pero con la mirada firmemente puesta en el porvenir. Nuestro proyecto se basa en el desarrollo del talento, el fortalecimiento de la comunidad y la recuperación del papel del club como referente del fútbol base en Asturias.
Queremos ser un club que crezca de forma sostenible, paso a paso, con un modelo deportivo y social claro. Creemos que el éxito no debe improvisarse, sino cultivarse con paciencia, disciplina y visión.
Nuestro objetivo es crear un entorno formativo donde los jóvenes puedan crecer tanto como futbolistas como personas. Queremos que el CD Colunga sea un referente de esfuerzo, trabajo en equipo y respeto: un lugar donde cada jugador aprenda que el carácter es tan importante como el talento. Se incorporan jóvenes futbolistas de distintas nacionalidades, con talento, compromiso y el deseo de alcanzar el fútbol profesional europeo, para unirse a un grupo de jugadores locales de la región.
Trabajamos para acercar el club a su gente: al pueblo, a los colegios, a las familias que viven el fútbol como una pasión compartida. El escudo que llevamos pertenece a todos, y cada victoria debe construirse entre todos. Se ha creado una atmósfera única, que evoca un estadio clásico a través de las equipaciones, el merchandising y la cartelería.
